Tricks and tips to get the best vacation property experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, consider shifting your family's Myrtle Beach trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.
How to select the best vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- To start, have your group choose date ranges and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Blue Turtle has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before booking your rental. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your vacation family.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
Tips for a great stay:
- Add the host's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many concerns.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Upon arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
