Booking the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To book the best vacation home within budget, we suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Selecting and booking your prefect Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Start by having your group choose trip dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your family requires. Beach side Condo Retreat in the Heart of Myrtle Beach! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. If not, contact the host before booking the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what is best for your vacation group.
- Looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your contract.
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- During check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your vacation home while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
