Our top Rental property booking tips:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Summertime is high season in Myrtle Beach. Book your Myrtle Beach vacation in Fall or Spring months to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have discounts for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:
- To start, have your group select dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Beachside Haven: Double Suites with Ocean Views has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what is optimal for your family.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More considerations for your visit:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your .
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
