How to find the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
How to get the best value:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best rental home for your budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Myrtle Beach attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your dates, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Direct Oceanfront King Suite with breathtaking ocean views has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible online. Otherwise, call the host before you book the vacation property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what bed configuration is right for your trip.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of problems.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
- During arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to make sure you haven't leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
