Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Get the best value:
- To find the best value, consider changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have offers and deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to pick the perfect vacation home in Myrtle Beach:
- Begin by selecting your a vacation week and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Beautiful condo in a private community + Free Attraction Tickets! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking websites. If not, email or call the property manager before you reserve the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you simply love, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Upon arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
