Our top Rental home booking tips and tricks:

Sticking to a rental budget:

  • In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • To find the best value, change your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides contain discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

How to pick the perfect vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:

  • Choose dates and spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Beautiful condo next to the pool on Shore Drive AD 8-229 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the host before reserving the property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is best for your family.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .

More considerations:

  • Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
  • During check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a wonderful stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
