Tricks and tips to get the optimal rental home experience:
Sticking to a budget:
- To get the best rental home within budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, picking, and booking your prefectrental:
- First, have your group decide on dates and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Breathtaking Views! Stunning 2BR Suite with Gorgeous Updates-Palace Resort 1207 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property manager before booking your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine what is optimal for your family.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you love, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or could be applied to your contract.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Upon check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great source for finding the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a great time? Many rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
