Strategies to get the optimal vacation home experience:

Finding your perfect rental:

  • In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To get the largest rental within budget, we recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, beaches, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain money saving offers on nearby shops and restaurants.

Selecting and booking yourrental home:

  • Start by having your group select dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. HURRY! August dates still\nAVAILABLE \n3 minutes to beach.\n1 minutes to pool.\n\n has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property manager before you book your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your group.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking

More considerations for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of issues.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the property manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
