Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation home experience:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Myrtle Beach vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting and booking your prefect Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Begin by selecting potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Captains Quarters minutes from Beach and Golf has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. If they are not listed, call the property manager before you book your rental. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
- If your family is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Additional considerations:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make certain that damages aren't linked to your visit, record any problem areas upon check in. Contact the rental manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to propel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
