Tricks and tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, change your family's Myrtle Beach vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- The sooner your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.
Make a plan and pick your Myrtle Beach rental:
- First, have your family select the best dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Charming family townhouse only one block from the beach. has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before reserving your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is best for your vacation family.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach beach you are enamored with, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- During check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected everything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
