Tips and Tricks to get the perfect vacation home experience:
Get the most from your budget:
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation home in Fall or Spring months is a great way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- First and foremost, have your family select the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Coastal Escape: 2BR King Suite @ Wyndham Seawatch has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you love, browse properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about your furry family members before booking.
Advice for a great stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- To make sure that no damages are attributed to your stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. Call the property manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
