How to find the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home & When to go:
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Charming oceanfront condo with pool, hot tub, tennis, gym, & great balcony views has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property management company before you book the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach destination you love, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental while you are away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on good ratings to inspire new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
