Strategies to get the best vacation property experience:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserve your Myrtle Beach vacation in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting the best vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Choose your vacation week and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Myrtle Beach Ocean Front condo with private pool, beach access. has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking pages. If they are not listed, call the property owner before booking the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach attraction you love, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
More tips for your stay:
- Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect your property!
- Record any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if there is a dispute.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- On check-out day, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
