Tricks and tips to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Get the most from your vacation rental budget:
- The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- To book the largest rental for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
How to choose and book your prefect Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Begin by selecting potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Charming OceanView 3BR Condo 6th Floor has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before reserving the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More tips for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of problems.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if there is a dispute.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a great stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
