Tricks and tips for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
When to go & When to book:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, change your family's Myrtle Beach trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which will include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Make a plan and pick the best Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Start by choosing your the best vacation week and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Charming Oceanfront Suite, Dogs OK! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking pages. If not, call the property management company before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the property manager's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- Record any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if there is a dispute.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- At departure, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
