Rental booking tips and tricks:
Cost saving strategies:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To book the best rental within budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have deals for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to select the perfect rental:
- To start, have your group agree to a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Coastal Escape: 1BR King Suite @ Wyndham Seawatch has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before booking your home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
Tips to have a smooth stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Upon arrival, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to compel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
