Rental property booking tips:
When to visit & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking in the Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain deals for local accommodations and attractions.
Selecting the best vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Start by selecting your a vacation week and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Cute beach house, 2 min walk to the beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the host before you reserve the rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- If your group is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Request information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Advice for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- To make sure damages are not linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. text the host immediately to record any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
- Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
