Our top Vacation rental booking tips:

When to go & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:

  • Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Some hosts offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Selecting the best rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:

  • Choose a group leader, select your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Gated resort, condo by front gate, first floor. Pool and hot tub right out back. has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the property management company before booking your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

During your stay:

  • Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Record any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a fantastic time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
