Getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:
- To find the best value, try shifting your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Make a plan and pick the right Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Gorgeous Direct Oceanfront 2-BR Condo In The 2nd Floor in Broadwalk, Downtown MB has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before reserving your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your trip.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if a dispute arises.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
- At departure, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
