Our top Myrtle Beach vacation rental home tips and tricks:
When to visit & When to book:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for local shops and restaurants.
How to pick the best rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Select dates and max budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Myrtle Beach Resort RT0716 has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property owner before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what configuration is best for your group.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
Advice for your stay:
- Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many issues.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
- During check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
