Strategies to get the optimal Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- Reserve your rental home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have discounts for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Selecting and booking the best Myrtle Beach rental:
- Select vacation dates and budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. King bed in boutique resort! 2 pools & hot tubs on beach! walk to convention ctr has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your trip.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you long to visit, keep an eye out for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges could be applied to your contract.
Know before you go:
- Add the host's information to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Record any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect your property!
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to compel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
