Tips for getting the best Myrtle Beach rental experience:

Sticking to your spending budget:

  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. Book your rental property in the Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Booking websites usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Narrow your Search:

  • First, have your family decide on trip dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Gray's Landing in Ocean Lakes has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is best for your trip.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or costs applied to your invoice.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
  • Make a record of any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to drive new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
