Tips to get the best Myrtle Beach rental experience:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, consider shifting your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, , and reduced traffic.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain coupons for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Begin by selecting the best vacation week and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Gray's Landing in Ocean Lakes has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the property management company before reserving the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- During check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental while you are out. Protect your property!
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
