Strategies to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the largest rental home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Myrtle Beach attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to pick the best rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Begin by selecting the best vacation week and a budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Great 2 Bedroom Condo with Ocean View + Official On-Site Rental Privileges has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property manager before you book your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your trip.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
More tips for your stay:
- Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few problems.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
- During check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
