Tips and Tricks to get the optimal vacation rental experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:
- The earlier you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is a great way to save on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.
How to choose the perfect vacation home:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Pelican's Landing Unit 409 - Ocean view has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible online. If they are not listed, email the property owner before booking the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach beach you are crazy about, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
Additional considerations:
- Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- During check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take video of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to stimulate new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
