Myrtle Beach rental property booking tips:
How to get the best rental value:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, change your family's Myrtle Beach vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby accommodations and attractions.
Choosing the best rental home:
- Start by having your group commit to dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Beach family vacation! Make family memories. Perfect location: 500ft to sand. has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available on booking websites. If not, email the property owner before booking your home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is right for your family.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or might be applied to your agreement.
More considerations for your visit:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Record any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- At departure, take a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
