Tips to get the optimal rental home experience:

Get the most from your rental budget:

  • In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Reserve your vacation home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

Filter your rental search:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Great beach getaway! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is often available online. If not, reach out to the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what bed configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Tips to have a wonderful stay:

  • Put the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Upon check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to propel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
