How to book the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking your vacation home in the Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.
Filter your search:
- Choose your vacation week and maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. GreenLinks 3BR Getaway has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking websites. If not, email or call the host before you reserve the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Does your family require specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Make a record of any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to stimulate new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
