Our top Vacation rental tips and tricks:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- Book your Myrtle Beach vacation home in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for local shops and restaurants.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Harbour Lights™ - 1 Bedroom Deluxe has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before reserving your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach destination you crave, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
- If your family is traveling with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.
During your stay:
- Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- At Check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
