Tricks and tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
When to go & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:
- To find the best value, try shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain money saving offers on nearby shops and restaurants.
Finding the best rental:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Imagine (2) your vacation at this beautiful condo has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email the property management company before you reserve your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach destination you simply love, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
During your stay:
- Get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Document any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many problems.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
