Tricks and tips for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Get the most from your rental home budget:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserve your rental home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.
Make a plan and pick your prefect Myrtle Beach rental home:
- First, have your group decide on date ranges and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Large Oceanfront 4 bdrm Corner Unit (8th Floor) by Luxury Beach Rentals has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is normally available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you reserve your rental. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
Some things to know before you go:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Lock your rental while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- At Check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to drive future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
