How to find the best vacation home experience:
Finding the best rental value:
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Book your vacation in the Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Filter your rental search:
- Choose a group leader, select your dates, and select a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Seawatch Resort Oceanfront 2 BR at Seawatch with Wrap around Balcony has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before you book your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- If your family is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
Considerations for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
- To make sure damages aren't attributed to your visit, record any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the host right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to inspire new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
