Strategies to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Find your perfect rental home:
- To get the best value, consider shifting your family's Myrtle Beach vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides that include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Finding the best vacation home:
- Choose a group leader, select your trip dates, and select a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Lodge 1 Bedroom in 57 Acre Gated Resort + Official On-Site Rental Privileges has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the host before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is right for your vacation.
- Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges may be applied to your contract.
More tips for your stay:
- Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of problems.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on good ratings to drive future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
