Our top Rental home tips:
When to visit & When to book:
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To find the best value, shift your family's Myrtle Beach vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Begin by choosing your the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Updated home.3 bdrm, 2.5 bath, w/d, spacious yard, off-street parking for 3 cars has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what is optimal for your vacation group.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.
- Visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
Additional considerations:
- Put the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many problems.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- To make sure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the rental manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic resource to find the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected everything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to propel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
