Our top Myrtle Beach rental home tips:

Finding the best value:

  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Book your Myrtle Beach rental home in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Booking websites often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Often, management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Make a plan and pick a perfectrental:

  • To start, have your group decide on trip dates and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Lovely 1BR condo in Myrtlewood has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the host before reserving the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is suitable for your trip.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.
  • Looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Tips for a fantastic stay:

  • We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many issues.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
  • Document any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if a dispute is filed.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a excellent vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
