Finding the best rental home experience:
Getting the best rental value:
- Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties.
- The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Some owners offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain money saving offers on nearby shops and restaurants.
Planning and picking a perfectrental home:
- First, have your group select the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. MUST SEE!! M57 NEWLY RENOVATED - Steps Away From Ocean, Pool, Grill, Store has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the property owner before booking the vacation property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or might be applied to your invoice.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
