Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation property experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. To get the best value, consider changing your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Begin by choosing vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Myrtle Beach Resort 21st floor studio on the beach has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property management company before you reserve your home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your group is bringing pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach beach you love, keep an eye out for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of concerns.
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- To make certain damages are not attributed to your family's stay, note any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the host right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your life at home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
