How to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, change your family's Myrtle Beach vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Often, management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to select the perfect vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:

  • Select vacation week and spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Myrtle Beach Resort A0327 has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before booking the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
  • Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental

Additional considerations:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • During arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your peace. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to compel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
