How to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Sticking to your rental home budget:
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, consider changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose vacation week and budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. Myrtle Beach Resort A350
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking websites. If not, email the property management company before booking the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great time? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
