Finding the best rental experience:

Getting the most from your budget:

  • Book your rental property in Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • First, have your family select vacation dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Myrtle Beach Resort T1211; Beautifully Appointed with Awesome Ocean View has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available online. If not, contact the property manager before you book the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.

Advice for a smooth stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • During arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peace. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a great vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
