Our top Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:

How to get the best value:

  • To find the best value, consider changing your family's Myrtle Beach vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain coupons for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.

Finding the perfect rental home in Myrtle Beach:

  • First and foremost, have your family decide on vacation dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Myrtle's Peak - Panoramic Oceanfront Penthouse has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is best for your trip.
  • Is your family looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Note any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if there is a dispute.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to drive future reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
