Tricks and tips to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • To get the best rental home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Myrtle Beach attractions. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Finding the perfect rental in the Myrtle Beach area:

  • To start, have your family decide on dates and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Your Home Away from Home at the Beach has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is often available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before you reserve your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
  • If there's a particular Myrtle Beach attraction you simply love, browse properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • Put the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • During arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did you have a wonderful vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
