Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect rental home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes.
- The earlier your group can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your rental Search:
- First and foremost, have your group commit to trip dates and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. NEW - Upscale 4BR, Remodeled - Steps to the Beach! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, email the host before you book your rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you love, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
During your stay:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- During check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a fantastic source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on good reviews to inspire new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
