Tips to get the optimal Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:

Get the most from your spending budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation rental in Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies usually offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • First and foremost, have your family commit to the best dates and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Newly Renovated High-Floor Ocean View! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Does your group require unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to find a property that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Upon arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of problems.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
