Myrtle Beach rental home tips and tricks:
When to book & When to go:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Summertime is high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Myrtle Beach vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which will include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning, selecting, and booking the rightrental:
- To start, have your group commit to dates and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Newly Remodeled Beautiful Ocean Lakes Home! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before booking the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
More considerations:
- Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your .
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few difficulties.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if there is a dispute.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific source for finding the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to propel more reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
