Strategies to get the optimal Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Book your Myrtle Beach rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have deals for nearby tours and attractions.
Choosing the perfect rental:
- First, have your group choose the best dates and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Newly renovated, modern, ocean front, prime location! Walk to everything! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available online. If they are not listed, email the property management company before booking your home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach beach you simply love, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
- During arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many problems.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
