Rental home booking tips:
Get the most from your spending budget:
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To book the most suitable rental within your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
Selecting the best rental:
- Choose vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the configuration your group requires. RECENTLY RENOVATED Oceanfront Condo Directly On the Beach w\/New Balcony has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is right for your family.
- Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
- If your family is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly property. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Upon check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
