Myrtle Beach vacation rental booking tips:

Sticking to a rental budget:

  • The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • To get the most suitable rental within your budget, we highly recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.

How to choose the best vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:

  • Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and choose a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Ocean Lakes - Site 1295 has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. If not, email or call the property manager before you book your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what bed configuration is best for your family.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or costs applied to your contract.
  • Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of issues.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
  • During check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to stimulate new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
