Our top Rental home booking tips and tricks:
When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental & When to go:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To book the largest vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Myrtle Beach attractions and restaurants.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Often, management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines that include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Make a plan and pick the best Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Choose vacation week and max budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Moonlighting Whole House - Eight Bedroom Eight Bath Home w\/pool has 8 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is often available online. If they are not listed, contact the host before you book your rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
Additional considerations:
- We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Upon arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to compel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
