How to get the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:

Getting the most from your spending budget:

  • Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Booking your rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have offers and deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

How to select the best vacation home:

  • Choose your dates and spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Ocean Lakes 2BR/2BA Beach House with Complementary Golf Cart has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is often available online. If not, call the property manager before you reserve your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.

Additional considerations:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
  • During check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few problems.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a terrific vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
