Myrtle Beach vacation rental home tips and tricks:
When to book & When to go:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. To get the largest rental for your budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Planning and picking the rightrental home:
- First and foremost, have your group commit to vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Ocean Lakes Beautiful Beach House OCEAN VIEW & LAKEFRONT on Magnolia Lake MH-9B has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking pages. If not, email the property manager before you book the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- If your family is bringing pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
- To make sure damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the property manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
- At departure, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on good ratings to drive more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
